WHAT TO EXPECT:

You will arrive at Y Bar Ranch at lunchtime on day one. After lunch, you will meet your guide where he will escort you to our shooting range to check out your rifle. Your guide will then take you on your South Texas deer hunt in the evening. He will be able to score and age the deer on the hoof to help you make a decision of what deer you would like to harvest.  On the trophy hunt you will be able to shoot a mature whitetail buck.  Your guide will let you know what the deer will score, age it, and if it is a shooter.  The hunter can then make the decision if he or she would like to harvest that deer or wait for a bigger one.  The decision is up to the hunter and not up to your pocket book.  Once you have paid for the trophy hunt, it is just that, a hunt.  We do not sell deer by the inch.  You can hold out for whatever size buck you want to hold out for.  In 2008 we average 160 b & c on our trophy whitetail deer.  You will arrive back to the lodge that evening where horsd’oeuvres and a campfire on our rock patio await.  Shortly after, a sit down dinner will be served.

On day two of Texas Deer Hunts, after an early breakfast, you will hunt till midmorning.  After lunch you may take a nap or enjoy any of the following activities; fishing, sporting clays, play pool, and throwing horseshoes.  Around 3:00pm you will load up for an evening hunt.  Your evening would be the same as day one with the only exception being the menu.

On day three of Texas Whitetail Hunts, after an early breakfast, you will hunt till midmorning.  After lunch you may take a nap or enjoy any of the following activities; fishing, sporting clays, play pool, and throwing horseshoes.  Around 3:00pm you will load up for an evening hunt.  Your evening would be the same as days one and two with the only exception being the menu.

On day four of Texas Deer Hunts, after an early breakfast, you will head out for a morning hunt.  After your morning hunt, you will return to the lodge for lunch.  As you depart you will be presented with your processed deer.
