Current Events For Late September - October 2006

We had great weather, and a great Texas based group for the 3rd weekend of dove season. Special thanks goes out to Mark for everything.

Our second weekend group, Wow. They had good evening hunts, and opted to skip the Saturday morning hunt to make sure the Y Bar Ranch margarita machine was working properly on Friday night. The Sunday morning hunt was a little slow, in hunter and bird activity. The Y Bar Ranch staff enjoyed this group that came from, Texas, Mississippi, and California. Thanks for everything.

Our mid week group had good hunting since the rain from the prior Sunday seemed to move even more birds in our area. This was a 100% Texan group, although we are not sure where Wayne came from. The Y Bar Ranch staff enjoyed having this group at the lodge, and sends many thanks to this group.

Opening weekend of dove season finally arrived. We put down are fishing poles, and grabbed our shotguns. We are off to another great hunting season at the Y Bar Ranch.

We received 5 inches of rain over a ten day period just before opening weekend, making everything green and beautiful. Our seed production fields have grown tremendously. We were able to get a large portion of our oat fields in after the 5 inches of rain.

Opening weekend was good. Friday and Saturday was good hunting. We received another 2 inch rain Sunday morning, that rained out Sunday's hunt. We had hunters from the following states, Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Minnesota, & Illinois. The Y Bar Ranch staff sends a special thanks to our opening weekend groups for a great time. We apologize for not getting a group picture from this hunt.

Thanks,
